Science:
Students conducted a lab comparing the rocks from two different areas of the Grand Canyon. They conducted an acid test and made other observations about the rocks. They discovered the definitions of limestone, sandstone and shale through this lab.

We viewed a slide show of different parts of the Grand Canyon and generated questions students had about the Grand Canyon. We then learned about John Wesley's Powell's journey through the Grand Canyon in the late 1800's.

Science:
We have begun a study of Earth Science. Students took a virtual field trip of the Grand Canyon today. They made observations of rocks found in the Grand Canyon and studied landforms in the Grand Canyon through photographs and an interactive panaromic computer program.
